Points of Interest In Area  Surrounding Lineville

Cheaha State Park is part of the Appalachian Highland Trail and Lineville is located at the southern tip of this mountain range.  Cheaha is the highest point in Alabama with over 300,000 visitors each year.    It has all the amenities one would want for a nice vacation or just a weekend retreat for groups or families.  It is just ten miles from downtown Lineville to the base of this mountain.  The scenic drive to the summit makes it seem somewhat closer.    Flat Rock Park is located just five miles east of Lineville.  This area is solid rock that has been developed by Alabama Power Co. to be used for picnics, boating, swimming or visiting for the view.  The homes across the lake provide a backdrop for this unusual area with its stark contrast of rock and sandy beach.  One must visit this site to really appreciate it.  The R.L. Harris Dam and hydroelectric plant is an attraction that is about seven miles southeast of Lineville.  Scheduled tours are offered by contacting the office at the dam.  The fishing is great and can be enjoyed at at almost anytime free of charge.  The surrounding area has lots for sale and wonderful places to relocate and commute to nearby work sites.  The Talladega International Motor Speedway is located less than an hour away, and attracts hundreds of thousands of fans every year.  We have two churches in our city limits that date back to the early 1900’s.  We have eight different Protestant and one Catholic Church just outside the city.
